Finally, today’s big announcement! I have launched a Kickstarter to publish Volume One of O Human Star! I’ve got some cool goodies to go along with the book collecting Chapters 1 through 3, so check it out!
Here’s the scoop!
Because it’s been so gosh darn long since I’ve blogged on this thing, I feel I kinda owe you all a little bit of an explanation.
The last 15 months or so have been pretty rough. I gave something a shot—3d animation courses— and tried to struggle through them for as long as I could (hence the near blogging silence, sorry about that.) But it reached the point where all the passion for what I was doing was drained out of me, along with my passion for other stuff like drawing or talking to most other people or generally feeling okay about myself. Oops. I hit a pretty bad low point about a month ago, but after cutting some ties to the animation stuff, I’ve been slowly gaining back enough energy to do fun stuff again. I dunno if I’m quite there yet, but I’m getting close. This biz has gotten in the way of me participating in some really cool stuff, namely the TJ and Amal fan project, but I’m hoping to at least do some fanart for that rad comic soon anyway.
Tldr; I got way down for like a year but I’m working on doing better now and hopefully I’ll be more entertaining soon TvT
And I know so many of you have stuck around through this very, very quiet blogging period, so thank you everyone for not unfollowing my silent ass!
I hope to talk to more of you soon <3
They were a couple who informally took TJ in when he was about 14~17. I’d say Michael was in his mid-late 40’s and Norman was in his late 30’s-early 40’s at the time. They were together for about 15 years before Norman passed away.
Michael (never Mike) was a well-to-do lawyer and a bit of a homebody (when he could manage it), and Norman was more artistic and athletic. Michael had a large collection of classic musical LPs (not Webber but like, Rodgers & Hammerstein, that sort of thing), which is why TJ knows those songs.
After Norm died and TJ left (which is a long story in itself), Michael eventually quit his job, went to seminary, and became a priest. I like to imagine that he and TJ ran into each other one last time before TJ left San Francisco.
Here’s Michael on the left and Norman on the right (sorry, I haven’t drawn them much so this is pretty nebulous):
